Heroes of Harlem Walking Tour

Highlights / General details Harlem has been called the cultural capital of Black America. It is the home to the Harlem Renaissance, literary, political and cultural giants like Langston Hughes, Madame C.J. Walker, Malcolm X and W.E.B Dubois. This tour tells the stories of the pioneers and the visionaries that made Harlem great from its early Dutch settlers to the leaders of civil rights movement. It also explores the forces that are shaping modern Harlem including gentrification. This tour could stop at: Abyssinian Baptist Church; The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture; Striver’s Row; The world famous Apollo Theater; The former site of the Big Apple Nightclub; And so much more! Duration Approximately 2.5 hours. Location Meeting point: In front of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture - 515 Malcolm X Blvd, New York, NY 10037.
