Visit famous Muir Woods National Monument at your own pace! Stay as long as you want in Muir Woods and explore the beautiful nature – with maps and guides in hand, take a short walk or a full day trek through these spectacular woods and take in the immense natural beauty. With frequent returns to Sausalito throughout the day, you will enjoy a flexible, relaxing and fun filled day!
From Sausalito, the tour takes you along the Pacific Coast Highway providing breathtaking views of the coastal mountains near Mt. Tamalpais, the highest point in the Northern California Coast Ranges. After a very scenic drive into the Marin County, we will reach Muir Woods National Monument, home to the Coast Redwoods, some of the tallest trees in the world! Set aside in 1908 as a federally protected area, Muir Woods National Monument is the only surviving stand of Old Growth Forest in the Bay Area today. There are a number of paved walking trails where visitors can get a close look at the magnificent giants. Other unpaved walking trails lead up the hills to connect with trails outside of the Monument boundaries.
