Tour a real WW II submarine. Launched into service exactly one year after the infamous December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the USS Bowfin measures 312 feet long. Nicknamed “The Pearl Harbor Avenger,” the submarine embarked upon nine war patrols during World War II.

Experience life in a narrow metal tube beneath the sea:
Admission includes a free self-guided, narrated tour below decks where you can feel how compact life was for up to 80 submariners operating this war vessel. Stand at battle stations in the forward and aft torpedo compartments, in her control, engine rooms and more.
Learn about submarine warfare:
Armed with an array of guns and up to 24 torpedoes at one time, the Bowfin engaged in a “silent service” designed to take the war to the enemy. The vessel sank 44 ships during her commission.
Pause to reflect at the Waterfront Memorial that overlooks tranquil Pearl Harbor. Read fascinating stories about the 52 American submarines lost during WWII while paying tribute to more than 3,600 submariners who gave their lives in service to their country, now “On Eternal Patrol.”
Complete your experience with an exploration of additional exhibits located on park grounds: peer through a periscope in a conning tower, check out a missile that delivered mail, a submarine rescue chamber and more — including Kaiten, a manned suicide Imperial Japanese Navy torpedo.

Hours of operation
USS Bowfin is open daily from 7:00am - 5:00pm. Note that the last admission to board the submarine is at 4:30pm. (closed on Thanksgiving day, Christmas day and New Year’s day).
Please allow approximately 1 hour for the USS Bowfin's two tours.
USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park is located within the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, at 11 Arizona Memorial Drive, Honolulu 96818.
Parking at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is free. Lots are located in front of the main entrance.
Children under 4 are not permitted on the submarine for safety reasons, however they may visit the museum at no charge.
USS Bowfin is not handicap accessible.
For security reasons, no purses, backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags, large camera cases or luggage is allowed at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Valuables should not be left in your vehicle. Bag storage is available at the entrance for a fee of $3 per bag. We recommend that visitors bring in their wallets, ID, water, cameras and cellphones.
