Algarve Airport Guide

Faro Airport is located 4km from capital city of Faro and serves travellers visiting all over Portugal. Flying durations from the UK for this popular short haul destination takes up to 3hrs. Arriving in Algarve

You have arrived in sunny Portugal, after collecting your luggage, getting to resort is your next and final step before you can hit the sun loungers. A taxi rank is situated directly outside arrivals hall or there is a regular bus service to Faro, to catch a connecting service. Why not take away the hassle of organising onward travel by pre-booking a shuttle bus transfer or hire a car for the full duration and return it on your return leg.


Transfer times

Transfer times by car can vary depending on traffic conditions, but here is a guide on what travel periods to expect:

Albufeira, Praia da Rocha, Portimao, Carvoeiro: approximately 1 hour.

Lagos: approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

Santa Eulalia: approximately 45 minutes Vilamoura: approximately 30 minutes.


Return journey

Ensure you know when check-in opens and closes in advance of travelling. On arrival there are various screens in the departures hall displaying information on airline desks. Some airlines provide an online check-in service, which allows you to go straight to bag drop with your baggage. For more information on whether this is available consult our information page.


Facilities in departures

VTo help make waiting in departures go quicker, there are shops such as Accessorize, Billabong and Duty Free Store. (Duty free prices on alcohol and cigarettes are not available for EU passport holders) For food and drink, visit outlets such as Subway, Burger Me and Costa Coffee. A smoking area is also available.
